Does anyone know if accepting a conditional offer for another position at the FBI will automatically terminate your IA hiring proces? I am close to getting a conditional offer for another support position but I would rather be an IA. I would like to get started on the background and have this other job in my back pocket if I don’t pass phase three, but I don’t want to mess up anything in the IA process by accepting the conditional offer.

Any updates? Did someone respond via email? If not, did you manage to get through to someone?

Dune: Still nothing definitive. After not hearing back in response to my initial email, I called the Washington Field Office and spoke to someone, who gave me a Washington Field Office applicant email address. I then emailed that address and very quickly received a response from someone, not identified by name, but as an SA applicant coordinator, who said she would forward my questions to someone who works on IA applicants. Haven't heard anything back further after that, but I'm still hoping to get an update on the status of my Phase II results sometime soon.

Hello all, just figured I'd share an update. Received my congrats email for P3. Waiting on CJO email. Any idea on how long those take and how long we have to accept the offer? Also is it negotiable?

I’m also knocked out after Phase III. I am quite surprised because I felt I answered all the questions with something and I’m not sure the grading scale, but I felt like I definitely met their desired competencies.

Congrats! It should be there within a week or so. You have a few days to accept after receipt, and no, salary is non-negotiable.

Is duty location discussed at any point during PIII? Or is it the same as 1811's where you are told during the academy/at graduation?

As far as I'm aware, final location is determined at Quantico based on Bureau needs and the candidate's ranked choice preferences.

Thanks!

And no it isn't. You make your picks soon after arriving at the academy and a few weeks in you're told where you're going.

From what I've been told is that there is some room to negotiate, but only in specific cases. Coming in at a GS 7/9 is non-negotiable (if you have a Bachelors you're a 7, and a 9 if you have a Masters), but you can get more steps if you have Federal experience at that grade or higher. If you think you might qualify for higher steps, definitely ask your HR POC. The worst they can say is no.

I don’t have any federal experience but I’m definitely experienced. I’d be getting in at a gs9 and I just checked my potential starting salary. It’d be around a 25k to 35k pay cut depending on locality. How does one move up the GS levels and how long would it take for each level roughly ? Are GS and step promotions guaranteed with time? I’d be willing to take the pay cut if I’d get back to a decent salary eventually.

Forgive me but I don’t have much knowledge regarding federal pay scales. I definitely have some thinking to do.....

So with Federal positions, it's really dependent on the specific position with how you move up and when. In some positions you move up 1 step every year, but in others you can move up an entire grade in a year. Your HR POC would be the best person to reach out to to get that info for this position. If you don't already have an HR POC, one will probably reach out before you're given the official CJO or their info will be listed in the CJO itself I believe.

Just received my CJO in my FBI jobs inbox. Pretty quick turnaround! Now waiting on the invite to fill out the SF-86. And the long wait begins...!

Just got my CJO as well. Is it just me or is this process going a bit faster than previous IA hiring events?
