Happy three-ish year anniversary everyone lol.
I’m anxiously waiting for my FJO, which shouldn’t even be coming until November. Has anyone else received updates on adjudication or being set for Q? |

I'm with you... anxiously awaiting the final offer. Ms.Tamburrino did tell me when I spoke with her previously that it would go out approximately 6 weeks prior to class and indicated that the January class would begin mid-month. Of course, that was in April, so who knows what could've changed since then. Either way, I'm just happy to have background and adjudication behind me. Crime and intel analysis is what I know and have done (and love to do)... having taken a break from that after a move, I am anxious to get back to it! When I spoke with her, she said we’d get the final offer in November and have a virtual meet and greet type deal. I was also told the date was January 30. :) |

My three year anniversary in the process was on Tuesday...still stuck in the void that is background. A few weeks ago, HR at my job asked about a verification of employment request they had received, and I was asked to submit a document or two a couple of weeks before that, so at least the process is moving along! I just checked my portal, and I have an update as of 5pm last night. Not getting my hopes up, but I'll take it. It's the first one since 7/15/21.
Keep hanging in there to everyone still in your various stages of waiting! |

Hello! Does anyone have experience negotiating a higher salary than what was initially offered on the CJO? Would be interested to hear how it went for folks, particularly those without previous federal experience.

I'm not going to say it isn't possible since I haven't tried, but I do want to throw this out there as an FYI (taken from the IASP Candidate Info packet page 37 - emphasis added): "HOW ARE GRADE LEVELS DETERMINED? The FBI follows specific internal and Office of Personnel Management (OPM) guidelines when determining an applicant’s grade level. Your background and experience determines the grade level(s) for which you are qualified. Intelligence Analysts without work experience generally enter the FBI at the GS-7 level with an undergraduate degree and at the GS-9 level with a graduate degree. The final decision on your grade level is based on the needs of the FBI and your specific qualifications for the Intelligence Analyst position. Once you have accepted a CJO, the grade level offered is the one at which you will be hired. You cannot renegotiate your grade level after being hired." No experience personally but my understanding is you’re placed at either grade 7 or 9 based on your experience/education and step 1 within that grade. I’ve spoken with someone else on our forum who tried to negotiate and were told no. |

Anyone have updates about the February class? I was told by Ms. Tamburrino’s replacement notices would go out in January - as opposed to being told November when it had been a January class. Everything still seems so uncertain which is slightly stressful. Hope I’m not the only one! |

Everything still seems so uncertain which is slightly stressful. Hope I’m not the only one! Nothing different from me, really, except I was told January or early Feb for offers. I put my mind at ease by just asking if I was still set for the Feb class, and I was told yes. Now I'm just going to focus on preparing my family and home for the changes ahead. I am looking forward to the entire experience!

Do IA's get stationed at the Field Office only? Or do they get stationed at RA's too?

She said they like to put IAs in the FOs because there is better opportunity for support as they start their jobs. That isn't as easy in the RAs because they are smaller (fewer employees). In very specific (exception, not the rule) circumstances, an IA could theoretically be placed in an RA, but that would likely be more acceptable if there was a supervisory IA there. I am sure anything is possible, but I'd think FOs are more likely. Anyone is free to correct me with other/additional info!

I applied when it was open August/September 2018, but there wasn’t a posting in 2019, maybe due to aftermath of the government shutdown. There’s a chance with COVID-19 and still having a backlog of 2018 (and now 2020) applicants to get through Q, they won’t open one this year. Considering it’s already December, I believe that even more so. The 2020 posting was in January I believe. So it might be right around the corner for 2022, but also could have another 9 months to wait. |
