I like a change of pace now and then and I am a t6. I don’t mind it if the regular carrier stays on their route when called in on their day off. After all, they know the route best. I am willing to do a route that is not on my string if necessary. One of the regulars, who is not on my string, said I should leave my position if I don’t do my own routes. Should I stop my practice? Am I ruining the contract? Please advise.

Personally I would only move to another route on my string. That is all the verity I need.

What does you LMOU say, if anything?

Google is your friend.

Why would you do a route off your tour ? Let the regular getting overtime do that route.

I never moved when I was a T-6 unless they gave me $20 to do another route. If it was a really crazy day I just wouldn't move.

I thought when a regular gets called in on their day off the T6 gets bumped off that route whether he likes it or not? I've been a T6 for a few years and have been bumped off quite a few times. Sucks when you're getting bumped off a good route and then have to do a route you hate.
From what I've been told, the only choice I have is which route I want to do if there's more than one vacant on my string or which route I want to do out of the vacant routes not on my string.

It depends on what's in your LMOU. Some are like yours, where the T6 gets bumped it there's another route open on their string, others say the T6 never gets bumped.

Ours said the T6 got bumped regardless of whether or not there was another route on their string. The regular was always assigned their own route on their day off overtime.

Our office lets the T6 stay on the route (honestly, this makes more sense to me since they're the one operating in their schedule). But it's common practice for management to ask the T6 to move over, usually to something on their string if available. As a T6, I'll only move over if the route is better or about the same. The difference between my best route and worst route is a difference between ~450 mounted addresses, or ~800 walking. So uh, nope, sorry not making that move voluntarily.

T-6 gets the route over a regular in my office, but I usually just offer to do another route and let the regular have it.
