Internal Revenue Service

As a bureau of the Department of the Treasury and as one of the world's most efficient tax administrators, the IRS role is to help the large majority of compliant taxpayers with the tax law, while ensuring that the minority who are unwilling to comply pay their fair share. (Source: www.irs.gov)

Not a single word... I applied in one POD where there’s only 4 openings... I guess who knows if I’ll even get in to be honest at this point

Some of my buddies that have applied for the RA position externally already heard back with their grades.. yet they are dragging their feet with this position.

You have to be patient.

We are working under the cloud of a Govt shutdown.

New hires won’t start until March.

If you’re going to work at the IRS, you might as well get use to everything being a deadline and nothing gets done until that deadline. We don’t get extra points or pay for getting things done quicker, we just get more work.

If you can’t accept that, then maybe IRS isn’t for you.

It will happen but it’ll take a minute.

Further there was a lot more applications and tests for the RO position. You just need a degree for the RO position. You need an accounting degree for the RA positions.

Personally I think it should be accounting for the RO position because we spend a lot of time fixing things the RAs and ACS screw up.

Didn't know that. I did wish they updated the dashboard and let us externals know how we did on the assessment. I have to look at previous post to see how many openings my 1st choice has.

Yeah they already got their results back about 4 days after they took the RA test. Maybe a little insight would be nice with us external motivators..

I’m just motivated to get in and do some work!

I bet you they had 35000 applications for the RO position.

In 2016 they received 15000 and the posting was only open for a week. And that was for 241 jobs.

I promise you the ROSAs aren’t even graded yet.

Patience is key.

It took 4 YEARS of non-stop applying before I heard ANYTHING other than being referred. After being selected, it would still take months to start, because of all of the on boarding paperwork and having to relocate. In the beginning of my USAJOBS search, I was told that patience is key. To apply, forget, and that long waits were a good thing. I was also told to go for the listings with a high number of openings for better chances of getting in.

I'm not sure if this information would help you at all, but......

This hiring will go at a relatively fast pace. They already have start dates for two hiring waves.

It’s just not as fast as people want

Have you been told you didn’t make it? I wouldn’t assume.

You might just be in a different hiring wave

Scotty, are you certain on that degree requirement? Outside of the 36 credit hours in accounting for R.A. I don't think I have ever come across any customer-facing position at IRS with any college, let alone, a degree requirement.

Don't know what the stats are among the folks you work with but in my 9 years here I'd say maybe 5 or 6 percent have an actual BA or higher for phone personnel. Just saying, IRS would have to go outside to find a lot of it's workers betond CRs and TEs..

100% certain you need a 4 year degree OR equivalent experience. Like you were a state or local RO

Internal here.

You'd be surprised how many CSR's have degrees. Their just waiting for something else.

Case in point:Atlanta, Kansas city and Philly are interviewing a lot of CSR's for the RO position. I'm told that 75% are over qualified for their current position.
