First let me thank those that have provided great insight about the RO job.
I am an Individual Taxpayer Advisory Specialist at a walk in taxpayer assistance center. Before that I was a Contact Rep. I got my email for the ROSA today.
1. Is the ROSA for external
and internal announcement?
I applied for both.
2. If you were internal and now have RO position did you take the ROSA? I heard it's something new.
3. Can somebody give more details as what it is you do in the field if not auditing? Are we asking them to write a check, make payment arrangements? Putting in CNC, suggesting OIC, etc.
If so it's basically what I deal with now. ITAS have access to ACS as well.

I feel better after reading the comments. Thanks again!

I was wondering was it easy? How long did it take from you to finish? How about the Writing Ability Assessment?

Any advice?

You agree to NOT divulge any portion of the test before you take it... so anyone who gives specific details of the test is doing wrong. With that being said, I took all 3 portions yesterday. It is not too difficult (but there are some challenging parts), but it is a bit time consuming. I have taken just about every federal test there is out there... and this one was probably low to middle of the road when it comes to difficulty.

I took the ROSA on Saturday.
I was wondering how long they are taking to give results. Being a Holiday week and with many taking leave in HR I assume also, don't expect to hear anything this week. Well basically there's only tomorrow left this week for most.

I applied internally and externally. I believe if you apply internally you don’t take the ROSA? My aunt applied internally only and did not get the ROSA assessment (just like when I applied for CSR, externals had to do JSAP but Internal did not)

You’re right, ROSA is only externals. Have you heard anything as far as your internal app?

Nope, usually when u apply internally they be like you been selected....because I remember external taking assessments for csr (AM and collections) but I did not receive assessment, I just received a offer. I was hesitant on taking this ROSA, should I even though I applied internally?

Of course, I just wanted to keep my options open. I’m hoping I BQ, but just in case there’s always external if there’s enough spots open. It’s never taken an entire month to get an update about an internal position.

I applied externally currently I currently hold the title of RO in my state. Also VET 10 pts took the ROSA. Although I made I mistake I only applied for the GS7 but I been an RO for the state for 2 years I think I qualified for the GS9. I’m not sure how it works in the federal govt. I don’t have a masters, but I have done everything basically at the state level

I don’t think I’ll get hired as a GS9 or be considered I kind of shot my self in the foot on that one.

Don't worry about it. You would only be hired as a GS9 if you were a former IRS revenue officer (who is no longer in the IRS)
