Hello, I am curious if there are other Intelligence Research Specialist that applied in 2016 and still going through the hiring process?

I am a November 2016 applicant and STILL going through the process. Here is my timeline:
Applied: November 2016 Proctored Exam: October 2017 Panel Interview: March 2018 Fingerprint: March 2018 Tentative Offer: April 2018 Onboarding info: April 2018 Drug: May 2018 E-Qip: June 2018 Polygraph: September 2018
But crickets since I took my polygraph and a Background Investigator has not reached out to me. I called the person who contacted me from suitability and he stated that I am still in the process but I wasn't selected for the October class. Apparently they have a pool of qualified applicants and they're pulling from that pool and he was not sure how they are determining who goes to which class. So it's just a waiting game unfortunately. I called HR and they are waiting on Suitability to get with them to let them know if my background cleared. HR stated; "No news is good news".

My timeline is similar to yours, except after my drug test in May I didn't get my E-Qip access until I called for an update in October. I was then told my information some how fell through the cracks?? Needless to say the middle of October I got access and completed my E-Qip. Two weeks ago I found out my friend and neighor had been contacted which is how I found out my background had been started. Then yesterday I had an interview with my background investigator and he interviewed my supervisor and coworker. However I still haven't been contacted to take the poly. So it seems our process has happened in a different order towards the end and there is no logical way to understand their hiring process. I was hoping to find out how soon after the background that you get contacted to take the poly? I'm just hoping to not have several months pass by again with no updates. As soon as I think something is happening it usually ends up being another waiting game. So you talked to someone from suitability then had your poly scheduled after?

Yes, I grew anxious back in August and called the rep from suitability and asked when shall I expect to have my polygraph scheduled and he stated that he was not sure and does not know how they determined what is scheduled. Miraculously, about a week or so later, I was scheduled for my poly. I'm not sure if it was coincidence or him but I was just happy to cross off another step towards a final offer letter. Hopefully the same things happen this time and a Background Investigator reach out to me.

Thanks for the info.Glad to know I'm not the only one still lingering in the process. I havent been able to get ahold of my suitability rep since I asked for the access code for E-Qip. When I spoke to HR in October they said the next training was in January. I'm guessing I won't make it to that deadline. Also how soon after your poly did you find out you passed? Thanks again for the info and hopefully we both get through the final stages of this process sooner than later.

Sure thing! I don’t know if I passed or failed, the suitability guy said they don’t tell you. I had to blow the suitability guys phone up for at least a month or two and then finally he decides to pick up and answer all of my questions😩. I hope us coming this far means something!

I hope it means something also! That sucks, you'd think after all that they would at least let you know if you passed or failed. I'm assuming things are going to slow down now that the holidays are approaching. I hope you hear something soon and we will both be in DEA training in 2019 🤞. Happy holidays and best wishes!

I am in the current BIRS class that started in May. After I finished my poly in Feb I was contacted a month later to complete sf86c, shortly after I got my preference sheet, then a week later I got my final offer letter and information for training. Everyone has a different experience some people in my class were contacted a week prior to attending training. During week 1 of training it was mentioned that here will be one class in September and they have two scheduled in 2020. Also they are trying to get as many as 50 people in the future classes. There are only 29 in my class and they stated that's the most they have had in a while. So they are really pushing to get people through the process faster! It seems like you are getting through pretty quickly compared to other who have applied, best of luck!

I applied for the recent July 2019 Schedule A announcement and the Sept. 13 open to the public announcement and took the writing assessment. How long did it take for you guys to get your results on whether or not you passed the test? It's been almost three months and i still haven't found out if i passed or not.

So after YEARS of being in this process for the position of DEA IRS, I have FINALLY received my preference sheet and will be attending the upcoming January 2020 BIRS training!!!!!!
Here is my timeline:
Applied: November 2016 Proctored Exam: October 2017 Panel Interview: March 2018 Fingerprint: March 2018 Tentative Offer: April 2018 Onboarding info: April 2018 Drug: May 2018 E-Qip: June 2018 Polygraph: September 2018 EQIP Recert: April 2019 Preference Sheet: November 2019 Final Offer Letter:
Not too thrilled on the location choices however, but very appreciative! Does anyone know of any way around the location options? I'm aware that ultimately staffing is based on the need of the DEA...

They have averaged around a year lately it seems. Not unusual at all to take 3 either each applicant is different in their own way.
