So management posted a sheet of paper saying all OTDL are to report this Sunday for parcels at the time clock. There was volunteer sign up last weekend for it following an abysmal Sunday after Thanksgiving (CCA's out past 11p.m.) and very few if any signed up (allegedly we wouldn't have been able to start till 10 a.m.). I'm already coming in at 6:30 a.m. and working 12+ hour days(Thursday was 6:30am-9:45pm) and refusing to work my N.S. because we are just so overwhelmed lately. What kind of notice do they need to give for ahead of time for Sunday? Can they even mandate us? Should I have been missing out on other various overtime grievances because they just one day throw up a paper and say that's the report time tomorrow?

Yes, so long as all available CCAs have been scheduled.

The OTDL has no limit on hours in December. Management has every right to work you 14+ hours a day every day from now through December 28th and your only recourse would be to get off the OTDL. December is their month.

And if one's office is short staffed like so many, getting off the OTDL won't make any difference either.

Thanks for the responses. It's my first time for December OTDl. Normally I'm on work assignment and I knew they could work me as many hours as they wanted, just wasn't sure on the procedure for actually asking me to work those hours.

CCAs being scheduled has nothing to do with the ODL list. When you sign the ODL list you agree to work period. You do not volunteer because you already agreed to work. And you don't get to refuse to work your day off, Management can make you work because you signed the list. Don't like it- get off the list

I’d never willingly sign the OTDL. There is plenty of overtime to be had without being on that list. Signing it just locks you in as their chump.

I was on the OTDL for the 1st 4-6 months as a regular. I came close to meeting my savings goal, then dropped to WA. Been on WA sense then. Just dropped off that a couple of weeks ago. Might get back on the WA list if management gets the route cut back to 8hrs as they have been promising for 18 months.

There are some that need the money because they are a single income household. Or they are in a high cost of living area.

But I think to many people are on the OTDL because they need the money to live. They try to keep up with the Jones'.


Learn to discipline yourself, so someone else doesn't have to

The way the Sunday Delivery MOU has always been explained to me is that it makes it so that all CCAs have to be scheduled before other carriers can be scheduled on Sundays.
