In the event there is a furlough and you are sent home, remember to contact your State Unemployment Office and find out whether you will be covered. Some States do, some not, all have different regulations but the earlier you take action the faster you'll know.

I would also note that if you do collect unemployment, if you get back pay(and, while not a guarantee, they have done it every time we have been furloughed due to a government shut down), you will have to pay back the money you got from the state.

and remember they don't withhold taxes from Unemployment, so you'll need to pay that if you do collect any funds.

The SBA is now telling their soon-to-be furloughed employees to make sure and take a copy of SF-8 to their various unemployment offices when they file. It is unknown whether this is generally applicable but it is certainly worth investigating. The SF-8 shown here is pre-filled with the SBA information - your Agency's information and contact will have to be filled in by you I gather that the furlough notice SHOULD have this information, but please doublecheck with your agency.
