Internal Revenue Service

As a bureau of the Department of the Treasury and as one of the world's most efficient tax administrators, the IRS role is to help the large majority of compliant taxpayers with the tax law, while ensuring that the minority who are unwilling to comply pay their fair share. (Source: www.irs.gov)

This forum will allow you to share and ask job-related questions about this bureau. This is NOT the place to ask tax questions.

Just curious has anybody ever been contacted and relocated under this announcement that opens every year?
This Oct 1st it opened and there's a new agreement with management and the union.
Basically, the MOU states there doesn't have to be a vacancy announcement posted for the location you want like in the past. However, I'm pretty certain there has to be a vacancy of course.
Also, you are not limited to your own region like in the past. Now you can relocate anywhere in the country.
It seems like we never hear anything after applying. Application status just holds at "received."

I applied to this every year for 7 years, never heard a peep. I finally transferred competitively in 2016.

I know that there are people that are being considered for VRP for the most recent round of Revenue Agent hiring that is ongoing. I don't know how successful they will be, but I have heard the discussions about the voluntary relocations being considered.

Good luck with your transfer.

Thanks for that reply! Wow 7 years. I wonder now that the restrictions are lifted will it work out better.

I know NTEU was supposed to get a list so I will reach out to them as well.

One of my coworkers in another state transferred under the announcement 1-2 years ago. He didn't move far, I think PA to VA.

Can you apply under this and move from one field office to another in the same State, just so you can get a field office closer to your house? Do they ask for your reason for the transfer?
