broncos55,
What position? It's interesting that you had your Psychological and Poly prior to your BI. Mine is different. I met with BI in June 2018. No poly yet.

It is for a business related position. Everything in beginning went quick. Had to do 2 polys but was told I passed 2nd one. Worst part of my background is torrenting (illegal download of songs/movies/games) and last time was 04/17 but was completely honest about it. I would think I would have received a denial by now if that was an issue.

In my case, the BI started before the ploy.

Thought I'd post this here.
Is it OK to take an international trip while undergoing a background investigation? The trip would be very short, just a few days, and it would be to a very friendly foreign nation. Obviously I would let my POC know before going, but should I ask for permission before booking or can I just book and tell them later?

I wouldn't do it as it would stop the processing and it will cause more delays. You must inform your POC and get their permission to do so. Please keep in mind that visiting certain counties might negatively affect obtaining a security clearance.

someoldguy,
When I had my interview (with a different agency) someone asked about it. The person who did the briefing advised against it. Even if you are hired, you still need permission to travel. I do agree that one should always consult with a POC.

Hmm, conflicting information. I definitely don't want to negatively affect my chances, so I will make sure to e-mail my POC before booking. But like I said, this is a short leisure trip to a strong US ally. Not like I'm going to Iran or Niger.

If you are an "Applicant" they should have told you about a Foreign Travel Request. If you are planning a trip overseas you must file a request with your travel Itinerary. At least they say you do.

No one told me anything about asking them for permission/telling them before any international travel. Obviously I figured I should contact them before I travel overseas, but was not sure if I needed to ask for permission to book.
