VA (Department of Veterans Affairs)

The United States has the most comprehensive system of assistance for veterans of any nation in the world. This benefits system traces its roots back to 1636, when the Pilgrims of Plymouth Colony were at war with the Pequot Indians. The Pilgrims passed a law which stated that disabled soldiers would be supported by the colony. The establishment of the Veterans Administration came in 1930 when Congress authorized the President to "consolidate and coordinate Government activities affecting war veterans."

This forum also includes the Veterans Health Administration (VHA).

Perhaps you are working for the VA or interested in working for the VA. Here is a forum to share your experience with the VA.

I finally received a verbal offer from HR on Friday and she stated my pay will be a GS-5. Will this be the same with my firm offer even after my background etc.??

I have a Bachelor's and Master's so I wasn't sure if they can give me credit for Masters since its a MSA position.

Thanks

What was the position advertised at? GS-5? Or GS-5 to GSX? or GS-5 with FPL at GSX?

If it was advertised as simply GS-5, that is the best you will get, even if you had a PhD.
You should have voted Cthulu...the greatest of all Evils

frankgonzalez is on the money, as usual.

In many federal jobs, a masters degree in the desired discipline will make you eligible for a GS-9. That is the case with many of the 0500-Accountant series positions, for example.

Frank is right, though. If the position didn't advertise at higher than a GS-5, then GS-5 is the best you will get.
