Social Security Administration

The Social Security Administration (SSA) is an independent agency of the United States federal government that administers Social Security, a social insurance program consisting of retirement, disability, and survivors' benefits. Hello,

Thank you all for your time reviewing my questions

Claims specialist

Career transition
Miltary spouses
Open to public

5/7 claims specialist
1/25/19 open
1/30/19 announcement closed
2/26/19 Reffered Best qualified

I have looked over posts and have read conflicting stories of hiring timeline.

I have not been contacted for a interview or heard anything about the position.

I am a current employee of another agency and am curious is "best qualified a good thing with SSA? I have had this before and not got a interview with other agencies.

I am a CP vet 10 point.

I am really interested in this position and any knowledge of hiring timelines would be appreciated. Is it common for SSA positions to be open only for 5 days?

Thank you in advance

I plan to give updates on process

Hello all!

I figured I would give a update to the position. I have received no correspondence or intel about the position since being reffered as a best qualified category rating CP Vet 2/20/19.I have contacted the POC on the Announcement to no avail. I will update when I receive any correspondence. And any insight would be greatly appreciated.

Thank you...

After reading posts I am concerned as I have had no contact since refferal. No meet and deal, no Interview. Maybe another usajobs refferal tease. I will follow up with updates to help in any way I can. And once again any insight of your experience will be greatly appreciated. Thank you.

This happens quite often. Wouldn't worry too much about it. Just apply to another position and if you hear something back from that previous, take care of business.

Hello,

Update 2/21/19

I was able to get a reply from the Point of contact on the announcement after numerous calls and emails and below was the email I received

"You will receive a letter once a selection has been made."

People have been interviewing and I've seen managers call references. If they haven't called your references and you interviewed you more than likely didn't get it. As for internals managers started calling for references as well. I was told selections would happen by the end of April to late May for the position, however I did not ask if this was for internal postings or not.
thanks 1 user thanked tknore for this useful post.

So I applied for the claims specialist position in new York back in October and had my interview in December. O was found eligible yet not selected. Fast forward to February and the job announcement for the same position, series/grade, location was reposted. I applied for this and despite notifying them I was found eligible they interviewed me again. Do you think theyll they use my eligible status from last time to determine my qualification?

Pretend you were never interviewed before. Go from there. (unless it was a meet and deal qualifying interview)

Yeah that's what I was afraid of. This really pisses me off, feels like my time was completely wasted. Worst part is I thought my second interview was all right, yet my references were not called. So I know better than to expect an offer. Just perfect. I'm fed up with SSA, done with this crooked agency

Just wondering if anyone received a job offer as of yet? I had my interview already it’s been a little while so I’m just wondering if anyone received an offer yet......

Before you even get an offer you have to wait to receive your NOR which will tell you whether or not your eligible and whether you've been referred to the hiring officials. Best of luck but don't expect much even if you are found eligible. NY is notorious for dismissing applicants. Don't be discouraged and just keep applying

I received my NOR which stated I was found eligible.....I just don’t understand this process at all. Shouldn’t you get the NOR before the interview? But they give it to you after it. Well I guess I’ll keep on waiting or just reapply.. I seen they are recruiting recent grads for the same position.

Don't despair, you should be hearing back very soon. They usually notify you soon after the NOR on your referral status. Keep us posted. Where was your interview?

It doesn’t even say referred in the status it just says received. Isn’t the interview with the hiring officials? I mean they are district managers.

You just have to wait for it to be updated, it still says received because they are still deliberating candidates. You'll receive your referral status soon enough and then it will be updated on the USAjobs website. If you've advanced to the next step it will say Referred, if not it will say either Not Referred or Not Selected. You just need to be patient. It shouldn't take long.
