I hope it’s not in St. Louis, I was really looking forward to getting out of town, and out of this building, just my luck

I was hoping for Andover, Fresno, or Philadelphia but I’m sure St. Louis will be interesting. Also Houston POD.

Man I hope it's not Fresno. I suppose it would have the mildest weather though.

If it was Fresno, I'd rather it be Anaheim - Disneyland

They don't have a big campus in Anaheim.

From the previous mass hiring in 2010 or so they had their training in Anaheim in the hotel's conference room or convention center

I highly doubt it would be Fresno. The SP building's training rooms are about to be taken over by the new contact reps until next year. The cafeteria food is terrible, and there tends to be a ton of crime in the neighborhood. The weather is fine as long as it's not summer.

I received my FO for TCO yesterday and immediately emailed the HR specialist to let her know I might not accept it because of RA. She gave me someone to contact about the delay in my TO for RA. Sigh.

That would be pretty sweet, especially this time of year. Unfortunately during my interview with one of the SoCal pods, they said training would most likely not be local.

For those of You who got Equip email from HR, did you have a deadline by when you had to complete it.
I got mine yesterday but am waiting on my Full offer from my other job.
If i dont do it in the next few days will it expire?

I believe you should complete it within 8 days or by the response date in the email.

Do it. They aren't going to make you fill it out again if you get another offer

Anyone stuck in "referred" status? Been referred since early August. Will there be another hiring wave?

Anyone know if IRS opens the RA, RO and TCO exams every year? Thanks.

I think I read somewhere that this is the first year they did such mass hiring for almost a decade, but that this is the first year of three years of RA hirings, but that it's not sure if it will be a mass hire like the ones going now. I can't find the post that said this again though so take it with a big grain of salt. You can be sure that a lot of people in the IRS are hitting retirement age though.

I was hired for a TCO position and I start on 9/30, which is a few days away and now I was just selected for an RA position with Employee Plan with no TO yet. Does anyone know how the IRS handles this? My goal is an RA position, so do I continue on as a TCO and apply again for an RA position in a few years or if I start working as a TCO and I get a TO for the RA am I allowed to accept it? Both positions are in the same POD.

If you start at a lower grade, you will need one year time in grade to advance to the next level. For example if you’re coming in at a GS-07, it’ll be a few years until you can work up through 9 (or 8, depending on the series progression) to 11. So if you’re hoping for a GS-09 RA position, you’re kinda shooting your self in the foot to take a GS-07.

It will take a few years to go from a 7 to a 9? I was under the impression that it would only take a year since the ladder is 7/9 and then 11 is competitive so more difficult as TCO than RA's 7/9/11/12

If you want to be an RA, pursue the RA position. No need to bypass the opportunity now just because you already have another offer. You are allowed to accept as many offers as you want.

A good chunk of us are in the same boat regarding having TCO offers and a selected status for RA with no TO. I accepted the FO for TCO because I can't guarantee RA will come through at this point. It's messed up but I will leave after starting TCO to RA. It's not our fault that HR couldn't communicate better. They really needed to hire RA first before TCO. We have to do what's best for us. For those that will be in the same POD for both...yea that might be awkward.

Does anyone know if I'd be able to use in advance my 4 hour sick leave of the first pay period during the second week after starting? I have a doctor's appointment scheduled in the middle of the morning. No way I can take that full day just in case, huh? Should I try to push back the appointment another week/change for a afternoon time? Email the contact on my welcome letter or sponsor?
