I received a call to schedule a telephone interview next week with GSA for their contracting specialist position through the Pathways recent graduates program. I am looking for advice and insight. I am not a contracting specialist; therefore I would like some advice as to what areas I should focus on in preparing for my Interview. I was told I would be contacted by panel members so I assume it will be a teleconference with several people. I would love to hear from anyone that has gone through this process.

Thanks
Joseph

Good Morning Everyone,

First I would like to thank everyone for your responses to my post, I mean your many views of my post LoL. I just completed my interview and I wanted to share my experience in hopes that in might help someone else who may go through the process in the future. My interview was via telephone and consisted of three panel members. They were actually from three different locations...Atlanta, North or South Carolina and I can't remember the third location. Each panel member asked three questions each. I only remember 4 of the 6 questions, but I will still list them here as follows:
1. How do you prioritize conflicting work tasks?
2. How do you handle conflict?
3. Since I am not yet a contracting specialist, how do I see myself helping the contracting team?
4. What is my greatest strength that I bring to the team?

After I finished responding to their questions, they informed me as to what I should expect going forward. There are no more interviews to be conducted for the Contract Specialist Pathways Program positions. This is the one and only interview they will conduct. If I am selected, I will hear from them typically with 30 days or so; otherwise, I will have to check USAJobs for a non selection letter. One last note, they basically stated that the one year is really a probationary period to see if the candidate fits the culture and can do the job. I'm happy they shared that information, because most announcements for the Pathways program make it clear that upon completion of the program, positions may not be open at that time, but with this position it is based the performance of the candidate. I hope by sharing my experience someone on the forum will benefit. Please feel free to reach out to me if you have any questions.

Joseph
