I just completed my 10 month service term through AmeriCorps NCCC FEMA Corps. After fast track hiring, I received a TJO for 2 trainee Reservist positions:

Emergency Management Specialist (Recovery) – Operations Support Specialist
This position is being offered at the trainee proficiency with a base rate of pay of $21.09* per hour

• Environmental Protection Specialist – Environmental Compliance Review Specialist
This position is being offered at the trainee proficiency with a base rate of pay of $16.17* per hour

The first is from Public Assistance and the second from Environmental and Historic Preservation. I'm more interested in the EHP position because I'd like to work as a Historic Preservation Specialist, but I'd need to complete two years as an Environmental Compliance Review Specialist before I can ask to be transferred over. My BA is in History. However, as it is a Reservist position, I'm more drawn towards Ops Support because it pays more. I guess my questions are:

Does anyone have any experience working in either cadre as a reservist?
From your experience, does Public Assistance or EHP get deployed more often?
Which do you think I should select?

If anyone has any tips, comments, etc, please throw them my way, I could really use the help. I'm young (23) and this is a lot to navigate. Thanks!
