All,

After a few years as a DoD GS employee, I'm looking to move my family back "home".

When USAJobs says "relocation authorized," what all can that include? I assume it's not guaranteed, but looking for some current examples of those who have used relocation.

It means the job comes with relocation money. If you apply for a job in Akron, you currently live in Talahassee, and the job has relocation authorized it means that if you get the job you'll get your move to Akron paid for, within the JTR, without any further discussion. Relocation authorized is not the same thing as a 'relocation incentive'. Since you say you have several years as a DOD civilian, relocation rights would include the various things found at this link: https://www.defensetravel.dod.mil/site/faqpcs.cfm

It depends on the agency.

Relic in DoD for civilian is similar to active duty where you would get packing and moving, tase, etc.

If it’s with a different agency who doesn’t move people like DoD they May isdue a check and say you deal with it all.
