Internal Revenue Service

As a bureau of the Department of the Treasury and as one of the world's most efficient tax administrators, the IRS role is to help the large majority of compliant taxpayers with the tax law, while ensuring that the minority who are unwilling to comply pay their fair share. (Source: www.irs.gov)

My tentative offer letter does not show a start date. I think that comes with the final offer letter.

FedVet21 and SMem83, I'm in the same boat as you, where I show selected but no offer letter yet.

Thank you Txmade! I'm wondering how long it's going to take to get all the inprocessing done, hence why I ask about the start date.

I was told in my phonecall with my hiring manager that everyone who was hired in this wave will need to start before Oct 1.

I called the IRS customer service number listed on the announcement. The rep said that I should be contacted sometime this week. He said that since this is a mass hiring action, they are running behind on contacting candidates...

I am external to the IRS, but I am a current federal employee.

Your eligibility for GS 9 is based your self-assessment question responses and proof of at least 52 weeks at the lower grade. i.e. (submission of SF-50).

Oh ok. I submitted my SF-50 so hopefully they correct it.

The suspense is a killer! During the interview i was asked for a location choice; I ranked my top 5 cities... I was told that the goal was to have people committed by 1 OCT which means not necessarily starting by that date. Since I would be definitely be moving, I would really need to know which location I get so that I can start looking at houses...

I also interviewed on July 24th and was asked the city and state I would like to work. Then last Tuesday I received an email from HCO stating they are strongly considering my qualifications. Difference from what I am reading from you guys is my USAJOBS status hasn't changed.

Did anyone else receive a similar email first? Has everyone's status changed?

I agree, the suspense is a killer.

I interviewed mid July and was selected on the 31 of July, fingerprint and ID on the 2nd of August. I completed all of my on boarding paperwork but I am currently a GS so waiting on the two HRs to work the details. Still waiting on FO, hopefully the turn around is only two weeks. It seems like the time to get the FO can be all over the place.

My email said recommendation for selection but still just shows selected on Usajobs.

I'm in the same boat. No ability to contact anybody, no update to status. I'm a GS who will be transferring, so I can't see how they will get this turned around before 1 Oct. I feel for the IRS HR people though, they have a lot of hiring going on right now. Hopefully things start to move forward soon.

Anyone have any idea about how long it takes from TO to FO? I already completed my fingerprints and ID badge two weeks ago, still no FO. I emailed my rep but haven't gotten a response since really early August.

You are a lot further in the process than most of us. It appears that the IRS has a unique hiring process; therefore; all of my experience in HR is not applicable...

I'm not sure. I'm an internal employee so I wouldn't have to complete my fingerprints and obtain another ID badge. Hopefully we all hear something soon. Which location did you get an offer for?

Crazy question, how rare is it to get a TO and never get a FO? Not worried about being disqualified for anything, but can they just not decide to send a FO? I have been emailing HR for two weeks and haven't gotten a response so I am getting as little worried.

Thank you for your interest in working for the Internal Revenue Service. You have been recommended for selection for a Management and Program Analyst (Project Manager), GS-343-13 or GS-343-14. Anyone received on of these yet?

I received one also; I applied for the GS-13 position.

I received that email for the 0343-13 on the 8th and haven't heard anything since. I interviewed on July 24th in Maryland.
