Current Fed changing agencies. Long story short I interviewed for one position in May and another in June with the same agency. The June position gave me a written tentative offer first and I accepted. The May position, which I prefer came in a week later which I also accepted. Both are public trust. When the June position tried to set up the background check there was an issue so they contacted the other HR office. Upon getting wind of that, they told me to decline one of the two offers. The June position was aware of the multiple offer situation and said I didn't need to decline anything.

Anyone experience something like that?

A week later the offer you preferred came in...you should have accepted that and declined the other.

If it the same level background check it’s usually done by the same office.
