That sounds like a good sign. Unfortunately nothing has changed for me in the last few months. I'm still waiting for them to reschedule the polygraph again.

Does anyone have any info on training dates? Like when the next BIRS academy is?

I’ve been meaning to report an update to my status but was waiting for final offer. So all this happened in a matter of one week. I got my location preference, risk letter, and final offer to attend the BIRS on Apr 25. It all happened so fast. Next BIRS after that I do not know.

Hello everyone!

So this is my timeline for Intelligence Research Specialist:

Applied: 02/2021
Contacted for interview: 03/2021
Interviewed: 04/2021
Fingerprints: 04/2021

A couple of days before my interview, I was contacted to have my fingerprints taken (which surprised me because they scheduled my fingerprints before I was even interviewed). I haven't received any feedback about my interview yet, but after the interview was finished they reminded me about my scheduled day for fingerprints. That seems like a good sign because if my interview would have been bad I imagine they would not remind me of taking my fingerprints, or they would have canceled my fingerprints if my interview would have been bad.

I am kind of anxious about knowing the status of my interview. Would it be right for me to email my interviewer to inquire about my interview, or would that be a bad idea? What do you guys think?

That's great! What was your timeline like? Did the process take a long time?

Don't reach out to the interviewer. Reach out to HR. There should be a phone # and email address on the job announcement. They will respond with results if they have them.

That's great. Congratulations! It looks like you'll be the first of us to finally make it to the end. Based on your timeline, that's a quick turnaround on the background investigation. That's a good sign for everyone else.

I'm sharing this with you all as a bit of advice. Suitability was sitting on my application since the CJO in September 2020. I pressed the HR rep, who was very nice, to ask about my status. Lo and behold!! I received the e-QIP link the very next day.

The moral of this story is that the DEA's hiring process is run by people, and people are not perfect. Don't hesitate to call them out if the process seems to be taking an EXCESSIVELY long time! I was professional and courteous in my interactions, but firm in my request. It paid off...
