If I retire from my full time job with the federal government at age 56 and take a part time job with the FAA, can I still collect the special retirement supplement, or is this a conflict precluding me from receiving it?

If you were to retire at age 56 under FERS and go back to work for the FAA, then there would be no "conflict of interest" for receiving the FERS retirement annuity supplement. However, you would most probably lose the retirement annuity supplement because it is subject to an "earnings" test meaning that if your salary is too large (more than $50,000 a year) OPM will not pay the FERS retirement annuity supplement.

Perfect, thank you. The earnings test is a big factor on this potential PT work, but the amount of hours are rather low.
