Here I am packing and this question came to mind;
How much closer space does each person have in their dorms? How much clothing do you recommend packing? Also I have about 6 suits, should I pack all 6 of them?

This is something I'm also curious about, what's the general dress code at Q for NIATs and NATs? Suit and tie? Business casual? I think you are in your NAT uniforms unless there are interview scenarios or something you wear your suit from what I read. I am more interested in having our personal clothing for weekends and evenings. How much space do we really have

How much space do we really have You have four very large drawers under your bed (about 1.5 a normal sized one you'd have at home), and the closet space is fairly minimal for each person. Think like a coat closet size. I took two suits and four dress shirts and that was more than enough for me. You'll really only wear them the first week for orientation and a few sporadic events here and there. I brought a little too much on the personal clothing side (t-shirts, shorts, jeans) and ended up leaving some in my car. Dress code during business hours is usually your assigned uniform you're given when you get there.

What is field office selection night like? Any updates on popular FOs to choose? Any FOs taking a surprising amount of candidates? Or are the Big 4-5 still the ones that matter most? |

I don’t want to ruin the mystique of orders night for you.
The average FO choice was hovering around 3 last i heard.
When selections are due, you’re going to hear a bunch of RUMINT that has next to no merit. People are going to pull up office staffing levels as “evidence” of offices that need bodies. Those lists are no indication of offices that need bodies. Don’t change your choices based on that junk.
The big offices are going to get the most bodies. If you put NYFO anywhere but number 56, you’re going to NYFO. People put NYFO in the 40s and guess where they went.
Offices like Denver are impossible to get into. Might as well put it in there if you would really like to go, you never know.

Thanks for the response. I’d love to get Denver since it’s where I am originally from but I know it is extremely unlikely. I have a friend who works in Denver and she told me they haven’t had a new SA in 5 years. I’ll still put it at number 1 though haha.
Are you still guaranteed a place like SF if you put it top 5? My AC told us back in January that they’ll guarantee it if you want it. |

I don’t think that anyone would ever guarantee, but the odds are incredibly high.

Really hard to predict. If you want an RA, it’s worth specifying when you submit your picks.
Some people say prior LEOs go to RAs. I haven’t seen that to be the case. If an RA needs a body, it will get a body regardless of background.

Does anyone know how field office assignment trends differ for IAs? I know it’s the same process, but I’ve heard conflicting things. I’ve heard in a recruiting video that IAs are averaging in their top five picks but I’ve also heard from an actual IA that the vast majority are all going to NY, LA, and DC.

How private at the bathrooms? I know we share, but is it like a mall bathroom where there a couple of stalls and some sinks side by side for a few people to use at the same time? Or are the single use private bathrooms which you have to wait for the other person to be done using it?

How long is it between graduation to reporting to FO? I`m guessing they give us time to pack everything up and find a place to live. |

You get 40 hours admin leave to report. But you will also have annual leave accrued and other time. It will just be a discussion with your FO.
For reference I took 2 weeks.

Days end around 5.
Usually Friday at 5 there’s a mad dash to leave for the weekend. If people live close by, yes, they are gone every weekend. If people don’t live close by, then it’s subject to your budget.

It varies wildly week to week, and I wouldn’t ever plan on it being any earlier than 5pm because things often changed last minute. You also may have Saturday classes. Some people who lived in the DC area went home regularly, but in general most stayed since you often have tests and other things you’ll need to study for or practice for that you can’t do off campus. One person in my class flew home every weekend to a southern state and they struggled to keep up. You’ll have to feel it out yourself to see what seems doable for you.

5 months for the rest of your life, take a 5 months break from your life and enjoy it after.
I don’t plan on leaving the area and flying home while I am there and risk everything. I will just explore a new area and focus on what’s in front of me there.
So, how likely would I get chicago if I listed it as my number 1 ? It is my processing office

You’re really not gonna risk anything going home. I think I knew one person who didn’t go home the whole time and the dude was miserable. Obvi your call but you’ll see that it’s no issue at all to leave for the weekend.
Probably pretty decent odds of getting Chicago. Big area tho - you might end up in an RA. You also won’t get any moving benefits because you will be considered to not be moving from your division. That always seemed obvious to me but some people thought it was very unfair.
