Interviewed 2 hours later sent TO. 3 weeks later was told TO retracted. Crushed yes but TO is what it is. lol However a week later contacted for BI interview. Anyone ever heard of this? I'm wondering if it was a mistake letter at first or if miscommunication. There is no reason for it not to go through and was told such by investigator. 2 hours later the investigator called back and stated they have one additional question for my husband they will call today. Already employed federally so it's all very strange. Has anyone ever had this happen?

Closest thing I ever heard of was when a friend of a friend got a TO for a job, starting doing the background investigation (filled out the forms and then some kind of phone call from someone to clarify a couple items), then all communication stopped. Could not get in touch with anyone in security or HR. Then some months later they got an email to set up a start date. Never interviewed by an investigator, no indication of references contacted. Now they never got an indication that the offer was withdrawn but it sure seemed like it. Actually I guess that is like the complete opposite of what you describe.

Also, one time I got an email saying I was not going to get an offer, but later that day I got a phone call making me an offer (tentative). That was confusing, not sure which one to believe, but the phone call was correct.

Fake it til you make it! Maybe you'll get a clearance out of it. Keep hope alive.

I was terminated from previous employment, and,I am happy I no longer work for DoD. The only good part was the benefits, and never accepting a job offer without an interview again. The BI investigator wanted to meet with me even though I was terminated. I thought the agency would close out the investigation. I told them I no longer interested in having a job that is a secret clearance, and being watched over 24/7.

I received a TO, and definitely annoyed about it being retracted. Luckily for this was not base on background investigation. I was 100% truth about everything when I got the job offer.

I provided everything to HR from my sf-50 to letter of termination. The only thing I didnt provide was my side of story. I was hoping if adjudicator needed more information, they will contact me, but the background investigation hasnt started. I provided All documents from my previous employer. I was a truthful candidate and my job offer got rescinded due to false information given to selecting official.

The selecting official forgot to contact my references. The HR Specialist called me and said instead of contacting your references on your resume. We are a going to contact your past employer you got terminated from. My termination was base off lies, and I was dealing with harassment. As a probationary employee, I just put up with harassment and kept my mouth shut. This person said some something bad enough to my prospective employer for the agency to rescind my job. They didn't even want to do mediation to allow me to explain my side of story.

What happened in your case?

We did find out his ex employer lied and said he left them in a bind without notice. He did resign in writing. Even worked a month longer because they asked him if he would. We both have text messages from him and his wife (who filed out the form) asking him to come back as late as January 19. He hasn't worked for them in over 3 years. Anytime we come home he stops in and chats with them. He is totally blinded why she would say this.

Now we are wondering what sort of recourse he can take? Any input welcome. Thanks in advance.

My case is that my past employer gave a negative reference about me to my prospective employer. I am taking my past employer to eeo, I have nothing to lose as I don't want to work for that agency anyways. He retaliated against 3 other employees, I really dont care what the army does, but I hopethey investigate his ass. I am going to share with eeo what they did to 2 other employees, they used me to screw up tenure employees work schedule to fire them for Performance. I was on probationary period, if I reported that corrupt behavior I would get fired for Performance.
