I was a GS-11 for 7 months before I separated from Federal. I'm currently looking to return using the public announcements in hopes of getting a GS-12. Is this possible or am I just wasting my time?

My first fed job was as a 12 so, yes, it's possible.

Yes, you don't need to worry about the TIG requirement because it's open to the public. The only requirements are education and specialized experience.

The only thing raising a potential "no" for me is your topic title says you have no other experience except for your time as a fed. Is so, then you may have some issues.

If only job experience is working fir the fed give...no you can’t

But if you have outside job experience of about 3+ with masters, 5+ with a bachelors thrn you coukd get a 12 only if you can show you’re perience is equivalent to GS 11.

If you are a recent gradwith just 1-2 yrs experience you likely aren’t going to get a 12.

Thanks everyone...

If I get hired as a GS-11, will I have to do a full year or 5 months?

Depends on the boss (if it is a ladder position). But, if you have a SF50 with 7 months, and get 5 more months, then you will have TIG...BUT...it all depends on the hiring official. You left once at 7 months, and now trying to leave after 5 months...do I want to risk hiring someone who can't seem to handle sticking around?
