DHS
The Department of Homeland Security has a vital mission: to secure the nation from the many threats we face. This requires the dedication of more than 230,000 employees in jobs that range from aviation and border security to emergency response, from cybersecurity analyst to chemical facility inspector. [Their] duties are wide-ranging, but [their] goal is clear: keeping America safe. (source: www.dhs.gov)

Thanks for the updates everyone!
Has anyone got any updates from the VSC? I completed the essay just under 2 weeks ago.

Anyone know anything about Nebraska Service Center ISO-1/ISO-2? I realize from reading the last few pages of this thread that the claim is there is so much competition that even current ISOs are not getting recommended, but...seriously? Wow. So me telling everyone I assumed it was only a matter of time before I was back at USCIS, but instead I have already been passed over? (Spent years as an ISO-1 in Vermont, kind of figured that would guarantee me at least an interview for those two positions in Nebraska) Edited by user Wednesday, August 11, 2021 4:32:06 PM(UTC)

NSC applicants received an email outlining a projected timeline for essay, interviews, and then reference checks.

Currently waiting to hear back from PSC. Interviewed weeks ago, for ISO 1. Any idea, how many slots they’re looking to fill? Edited by user Thursday, August 12, 2021 7:29:51 AM(UTC)

Damn, what a bloodbath if even current/former ISOs are not getting referred, let alone interviews. Never heard of that before. Apparently I need to set my sights on some other agency these days.

I start next week at the FO. I was given the TO before the hiring freeze. I am so excited and on cloud 9 about starting at USCIS. I did not realize that Uscis makes you fill out so many forms. They are the king of forms. There is a form for everything. The dress code is 2 pages long. My previous agency did not have so many forms but that’s okay.

Did anyone status change when they track their application for the ISO announcement at Potomac. Am hearing some of those that interview status change to Onboarding while others have not.

MJohnson55 Mine has changed . It no longer says referred, just back to Application received but I do have the onboarding button at the top right hand corner, once I track the application. Edited by user Thursday, August 19, 2021 10:29:52 AM(UTC)

Saw there was some discussion about the ISO1/2 postings closing. I have a funny story to relate about how I know they are not done yet. I just got invited for an exercise from the California Service Center. I did not realize "location negotable after selection" just meant a random office would decide you had applied there, but so it goes. Definitely not willing to relocate to California out of the blue though.

I also received an email for a remote writing exercise for an ISO-1 position. Does anyone know how the writing exercise is handled? The assessment will be done remotely but it was given a date and time. Do they send you the questions in advance?

I also received the above email (75 min remote exam) for the Laguna Niguel office.
