In reference to the 2020 PERC (Postal Employee Reference Calendar) how come the July 4th holiday is highlighted on the 3rd and not the 4th?

Carriers need to ignore that as far as when there is delivery. But a lot of businesses will be closed when we are delivering on the 3rd. The USPS follows a different schedule than other government agencies. Of course, one famous person on this forum will probably be able to get Trump to give postal workers off on the 3rd since Trump is such a great person.

Do you have a color coded calendar? That's what he's referring to.

It is one of the color-coded day rotating day off calendars. This one says it is a product of NALC branch 238 and is published, printed, and distributed by Richdon, Inc......

They put a thicker black square around the holidays. They put the square around Friday, July 3, instead of the 4th. That looks odd given the purpose of the calendar is for carriers to easily see their schedule. But like many calendars it shows the 4th as Independence Day and on the 3rd it says Independence Day Observed. I think they should have put the box around the 4th to avoid the confusion. But Saturday holidays are always confusing given they are treated differently by some businesses and even some parts of the USPS.

I don't do links well, but that page is exactly the one on the calendar I use.

I appreciate those of you who do links.

Thank you. (I would have not made my post, but I did so while you were doing yours.)

I don't use the color coded or "ABC" calendar. To much "junk" to look at.

I found the calendars created by NALC Branch 1439, Ontario-Rancho Cucamonga, California, hosted on the CSALC to be user friendly.

http://www.csalc.org/CSALC_Download.html

I print out copies and pass them around the office.

Thank you for that link, also. A 1-page is useful so you don't have to flip pages.

I use the larger one with a month per page because I can write my appointments on it. I carry it with me when I see the dentist, eye doctor, etc. I also write postal notes on it so I have contemporaneous records. "Mgmt Pet (or Scab) 08.11" would be useful when mgmt tries to discipline non-pets. I know when the pets were not disciplined for being late. It is amazing how many times the pets are late with impunity. I might know of a dozen or more in a year for one pet just happening to see it in the course of my work. That probably means there are several dozen in the records. But I like knowing where some ammo is without searching.

Like many things in the Post Office, there is no uniformity in calendars. My office uses the "ABC" calendars. But a different schedule than the one on the CSALC website.

Don't get me started on the NALC app. The day off changes every time I open it.

Use google calendar on your phone...
input 6 weeks of your day off, and have each day repeat every 6th week..done, no need to ever mess with it unless you bid to a different day off.
