The Department of Homeland Security has a vital mission: to secure the nation from the many threats we face. This requires the dedication of more than 230,000 employees in jobs that range from aviation and border security to emergency response, from cybersecurity analyst to chemical facility inspector. [Their] duties are wide-ranging, but [their] goal is clear: keeping America safe. (source: www.dhs.gov)

Did anyone get referred for the most recent job posting? How long does it normally take between referral and when/if they interview you?

I’m currently in the process. It took about two months from my application to interview.

Guessing you applied to the opening posted end of January. I believe this is how it works. Central place process and make referral based on submitted paperwork. Then make a list for each location. The locations will ask central for the list of qualified people who selected that location. Then they make contact and do interview and all that.

I believe there is or may be a countrywide deadline or schedule for the locations that have hiring budget and authority to interview and make offers by a certain date. It may be the location you selected did not have openings or money to hire. Or maybe they already called who they were interested in from the referral list.

But you never know, since each office does their own thing. And maybe they may have the money or authority to hire later before end of this fiscal year.

For me, waited two months after I submitted my stuff. Completed the interview in early April.

At this point I'm assuming either the location I applied to already selected their people, or they haven't contacted people because of the corona virus.

Hi Terra, sorry I never saw your message. I applied to California offices. It took about 6 months from offer date to start date. If you have any future questions feel free to message me. I finally figured out how to subscribe to the thread.
