I am slated to start my new position next month. However, I am wondering how these new restrictions surrounding the coronavirus are affecting new hires who have not started yet. I have heard that many employees are being sent home, as is the same with many other employers (50/50 or all of them). Is anyone else dealing with this issue? I will begin moving my family at the beginning of the month and do not want any big surprises like a freeze on hiring that affects those who have not already started, or to find out the start date has been delayed for a few months after completing the move.

I have tried to email and call my recruiter, but as many of us know, they are often overwhelmed and now may be working from home or not at all. Thanks in advance.

You might want to check with your recruiter, there is a DoD wide travel-ban and hiring freeze which is affecting PCS.

Thanks, velcro. I have done that and heard the same thing you posted. I was told that I should not be affected since I have an EOD but received a response in an email saying that there is no definitive answer on whether or not my EOD will be delayed. I can move my HHGs myself without a problem, but I do not want to move only to find out the job is delayed a few months.

Have you tried asking the 1 844 ICHIRES line? They should be able to give you something, even if it’s not specific.

Yes, that was actually my second call when I could not initially get ahold of my recruiter. They referred me to her. Thankfully, she has since emailed me. Still, no definitive answer as you probably saw in my above response to velcro. Thanks

I'm in the same boat as you. I have an offer from Treasury with an EOD next month. I reached out to HR on Friday. I would suggest just to keep trying to get ahold of someone.

Too bad it’s not the same for interns :(

We all got an email saying all summer programs have been canceled...

My guess is that it may vary by position and agency.

From the FBI I got an email two days ago saying my application is continuing to proceed because hiring is "mission-critical." I emailed my FBI contact last Monday asking how BI's will be handled, phone or Skype? I haven't got a reply from her.

I am calling as much as I can without becoming a nuisance. However, I am moving a family with me in the middle of this crisis and need answers. Thanks for sharing.

I am going into an IT position, which makes me think everything is fine.

That definitely helps because my position is definitely mission-critical. Thanks.

I'm supposed to move next month but have not yet received my orders. So it's getting really frustrating knowing I need to be there but can't look for a place to live since they will not respond to any of my emails and I can't get in contact with anyone in order to receive my orders.

New York

Just received this email though:
