Internal Revenue Service
As a bureau of the Department of the Treasury and as one of the world's most efficient tax administrators, the IRS role is to help the large majority of compliant taxpayers with the tax law, while ensuring that the minority who are unwilling to comply pay their fair share. (Source: www.irs.gov)
This forum will allow you to share and ask job-related questions about this bureau. This is NOT the place to ask tax questions.

My HR person is being super unresponsive and i got my T.O end of July and nothing is moving and no communication.
I was told the 15th of November. I am in the same boat, nothing from my HR person. Just received my firm offer today. I have to follow up with the personnel security specialist and she cleared the background check in the same day. Here is my timeline. 9/15 - Interviewed 9/24 - TO 9/29 - Fingerprint 10/18 - EQIP submitted 10/20 - FO 11/8 - EOD

Brush up on the Cohen & Golsen rule, IRC sec. 274(d), sec. 183... a lot of cases are a taxpayer's failure to substantiate expenses. Thank you so much for these insights! I vaguely remembered these rules/sections from law school, but you've jogged my memory and given me a great starting point for some research in my spare time. I also appreciate the brief overview of the course of this sort of litigation, gives me a great idea of the work I'd typically be performing and what sort of competencies to emphasize. I imagine that like most civil litigation, the majority of these cases end in settlement but it's good to know that you will be expected to try cases if all else fails. Thanks again, I greatly appreciate it.

I'm still waiting for a FO from my HR, the SBSE recruitment representative did contact me and said they will elevate my issue. My problem is my EOD is November 7th and next week is within to two week window. I would like to let my current job know. No fingerprinting email but I was told I could start without the fingerprinting. Hope to hear something soon.

Also there are other start dates available if you want to change it. A friend of mine was able to push his start date to Dec 13. Edited by user Friday, October 22, 2021 6:16:37 AM(UTC)

Is anyone else still waiting on the E-QIP invite? I have an 11/8 start date and have received and accepted both the TO and the FO, I've uploaded my necessary documents and completed the forms online, and I've done the fingerprinting but I haven't received anything for E-QIP.
I've tried calling the phone number for Personnel Security listed on the FO with no answer, and I've sent emails to the email address listed in the FO as well as the HR contact who has been emailing me. No success in receiving a response from anyone.

No success in receiving a response from anyone. I have an 11/8 start date too, only received my TO, no response from HR but physical security has replied to my emails. I was told I could start without the E-QIP or fingerprinting, because it can be done after I come onboard. But without a FO, I am at a standstill. I was told that HR is swamped and please be patient. Also the SBSE Recruitment email responded to me, to tell me that someone will contact me soon. I want to put in my notice at my present job.

I know the TO is tentative and can be withdrawn if something is found to be unfavorable. At least that's what's written in the TO. I hope you get answers sooner than later. BTW what is SQA?
