cleared was terminated due to the passage of time. My credit score is great, and all of my FBI background checks and fingerprints are good. However I have a significant Gap in my resume (October 2018-May 2020). This occurred because my last job (which I was in for 19 years), was destroyed by a hurricane in the US Virgin Islands..this .took me almost a year to clean up.

My mother was then stricken with Breast Cancer and because she had no one else, I took care of her knowing that I was cleared for hire. The area I was moving to is extremely rural so IHS had to build new housing in the area which got delayed because of COVID 19. I finally got the call that MY housing would be ready on the 10th of May 2020.

The reason why I’m reaching out to the experts here is because EQIP doesn’t want me to have gaps in my resume.

Can anyone here provide this medical person some information on how to handle this?

Thank you all graciously for your expertise and insight.

Cheers doc David

I apologize for the confusion. I am already hired and currently working. This is for the “P4 card”.

what happened was I “CLEARED FOR hire”, but I was unable to start my job due to a lack of available housing.

Then the COVID 19 crisis started which further delayed my employment. The housing unit on the reservation was finally finished so I was able to start my job on the 10th of May.

However because this took over a year and half my background check expired. So I have a large time gap in my employment since my last job.

They are having me redo my EQIP and EQIP doesn’t want you to have any gaps between employment.

Is there anything I should be mindful of!?

Thank you and I hope that provided greater clarity.

May last employment date was 4/18/20 and my current employment date is 5/10/20.

EQIP is telling me there cannot be gaps in your work history.

Thoughts?

There shouldn't be any. If I recall correctly since it's been a while since I've done an 86, it only asks you for Month/Year. If you have a gap of a full month without work, you put down unemployed.

I would get creative and call it volunteering ;)

In my resumes I would say unemployed and write a short blurb of what occurred. What happened in PR/VI is well known and very understandable.

It’s dimikar to know where people say they were unemployed due to Covid.
