Social Security Administration

The Social Security Administration (SSA) is an independent agency of the United States federal government that administers Social Security, a social insurance program consisting of retirement, disability, and survivors' benefits. To qualify for these benefits, most American workers pay Social Security taxes on their earnings; future benefits are based on the employees' contributions. (Source: Wikipedia)

you're not going to see this offered in any position I can think of. Way too many employees and it's something the agencies pay for out of their own budgets. Not going to happen at SSA.

Could you let me know which agencies do? I'd be interested in that.

Also, for some perspective:

I used to work at SSA in a PSC (case processing). One of my coworkers transferred to a field office for a promotion, but forgot to bring his name plate when he left. He was told by his new supervisor that they could not afford a new nameplate, and to buy him one would have meant buying one fewer ream of paper, which was not an option.

I haven't talked to him in a while, but when I did he still did not have a nameplate.

helloyesthisisdog - If you really want a reply I'd suggest reposting the question in another forum such as the "New Hires" or "Federal Career Planning..." forums below. Very few people outside of a few SSA employees or ex-SSA employees ever read the SSA forum.

Bahahah, it was more of a tongue-in-cheek comment than anything serious. Thank you :)
