I’ve been on Owcp comp for a couple of years. I’m done with it; I want to move on to the next chapter of my life. I had multiple injuries, more than 10 surgeries
...My doctors say I can’t work more than about 4-6 hours at best a day (and informed Owcp the same). This is permanent based on the extent of my injuries. I heard that Owcp requires 8 hours to return to work, whatever. I’m asking your thoughts about:
1. What happens to those of us who can’t return to full duty (8 hr days)? (I have made up my mind. Maybe someone out there is teetering)
2. What form do I need to fill out to switch from Owcp to OPM disability retirement (I was approved)
3. How or when is the best time to switch (ie choose the retirement date)?
I’m going to a 3rd party in a couple of weeks - one that I hired - to get some final answers regarding my permanently disability, ie., confirmation of my doctors assessment, the appropriate language (causal explanation) to include a secondary diagnosis resulting from my initial injuries & surgeries; a disability rating & to clarify one more surgery recommendation (revision) I was told I should get.
What say you?

It isn't true that OWCP requires you to return to work for 8 hours a day. A suitable job offer can be for 4 hours a day.

If you want to switch to OPM benefits, you would write OWCP and ask for a CA-1102 form (not available online). It's up to you what date to choose.
