Social Security Administration
The Social Security Administration (SSA) is an independent agency of the United States federal government that administers Social Security, a social insurance program consisting of retirement, disability, and survivors' benefits. To qualify for these benefits, most American workers pay Social Security taxes on their earnings; future benefits are based on the employees' contributions. (Source: Wikipedia)

Any news on when the offices will reopen to the public? They could easily reopen and only allow appointments only so they don't have people waiting in the lobby.

We just had a meeting and they do not know when. The rumor in management circulating is that most likely in the Fall. They do let people in dire need come into the office with appointments.

A former colleague who now works there told me each employee would be given 5 masks when they do reopen. However SSA has a bigger problem. They made everyone's cubes at headquarters 6' square with half height walls (from 8' square and full height walls) as a mechanism to encourage people to leave. SSA is high grade heavy. Backfired. Maintaining a 6' space between employees is no longer possible. They are talking about putting up plexiglass partitions around the mini cubes rather than admit they screwed up royally and just provide people a safe and decent working space where they can be productive. The few employees who were working are so upset with management many are now doing the least amount of work possible or bolting to a better agency. SSA's ratings as a place to work have fallen like a stone since 2010. My former coworker is also looking to get out and come back to HHS. She said the 14 wasn't worth leaving HHS for.
