Hey, y'all. The kids are all grown up and we're empty nesters, so I've been looking at making a move toward eventual retirement. I've been very picky about what I've applied for, so it's only been a few jobs that are a promotion (13 or equivalent) and have a relocation incentive. But checking USAJobs on every single one of them - the oldest having closed on 15 May 20 - are still just showing "Received" as far as application status. Is anyone having the same issue? I thought about reaching out directly to the hiring authority, but I don't know if that's a thing one should do.

Things are a bit slow because so many people are teleworking which has slowed things even more. I will say most jobs I apply for i get referred for but some stay in received status forever. I always say apply and forget.

Yeah that's kind of what I figured. The latest one I applied for is sort of my dream gig - state I want to retire in, promotion to 13 with a full relocation package and doing the job I love - not just something to pad my high three at the end... So I really just want them to get on with it so I can start packing :)

Some agencies are reliably good at updating your application status in a timely manner. Other agencies, not so good. I've been hired for one job where my application status remained "Received."
Best advice: Fire and Forget. Trying to apply logic to any aspect of federal hiring is a great way to go bonkers.
