With golf season coming to an end, management is finally tackling some of the most important issues in our office.

Today, the PM came up to me an announced that he hired another carrier and that we are fully staffed. Judging by the smile on his face, he was certainly proud of himself. We now have two rural carriers for each rural route in our office! No more X days for those overtime hogs.

He ended the conversation by telling me what part of the open route I was pivoting today. Maybe once golf season is totally over we'll be fully staffed on the city side. Then again, maybe not.

Do you mean literally not going out as in not delivered? If so wow
Just because you are paranoid does not mean that they are not out to get you

That's terrible. At least all our routes are being delivered. I just wish there was the same emphasis on hiring city carriers as there is with hiring rural carriers.

Saturday, we had FIVE carriers from other stations come in to do some of our routes.

Three were regulars that used to work here, and came in on their SDO. I gave off 90 minutes, and squeaked in at exactly 10 hours.

My office has not heard the term "5th Day" in months.

When I started, a year after the 2011 adjustments, we had 48 routes and a few auxes, and plenty of room on the floor.

After the CDRAAP in 2016, we went up to 55 routes, a couple auxes that have since morphed into 10 hour routes, and no spare floor space.

This is the time that route inspections should be going on with an eye to the next adjustments. We don't even have an acronym for it yet.

They are forcing the ODL in on Sundays all over the district and sending CCAs to use to rotate a vacant route for Sunday delivery.

Just as we thought we were about to get to 50% of our routes covered a dog attack took the fingertip of one of our carriers

Since the station managers were reporting that mail wasn't going out on up to 50% of their routes to concentrate on medications for veterans and baby chicks the OIG came down and the POOM who never shifted staff around (perhaps all the CCAs were on OPTs) was relieved and they worked that CCA scheme last Sunday and Labor Day. Going into next week although the vacation schedule is not full we lost two CCAs to their annual break and a new hire balking out of constant 12 hour carrier days on a 50 something year old body being incompatible to health quit.

Maybe sometime in October we will be able to man more than half of our routes

They're going to burn a lot of carriers out, and the Christmas season is just beginning.
