Internal Revenue Service

As a bureau of the Department of the Treasury and as one of the world's most efficient tax administrators, the IRS role is to help the large majority of compliant taxpayers with the tax law, while ensuring that the minority who are unwilling to comply pay their fair share. (Source: www.irs.gov)

Hello,

I applied both positions for IRA and TCO (Tax Compliance Officer/Tax Specialist *Amended*) as an external applicant. I took the job assessment test, since then I haven't heard anything....Did anybody get a further processing notice on those positions? My USAJobs status is still "Qualifications under review". It's about 20-30 days passed since I got those tests. Please reply, thank you!

I think it's premature to be expecting to hear something if it has only been 20 days.

They have to interview all the internals before they can even start interviewing externals.

Last year, when I applied to TCO, the assessments were emailed out in April, and contact from the IRS to schedule the interview did not happen until late June.

You should receive a notice of rating at some point (based on the assessment) between now and being contacted for an interview.

The IRS takes a long time to respond to anything. I also took the assessment early last month and have yet to hear anything. I also took the assessment for the Revenue Agent position around the same time and haven't gotten a score from that either. It's all a waiting game. I just hope the new fiscal year doesn't affect the hiring.

My application for TCO went from application under review to received today in career connector. My RA application recently went to reviewed. So there is some movement behind the scenes.

I too took the assessment for TCO, and awaiting word. I’m guessing that we will all hear something at about the same time.

Just a thought....Both TCO and RA (many locations) announcements fall under SBSE. They may want to give priority to filling RA positions before working TCO vacancies.

There were some people last fall who were hired as TCO and then they were also offered RA, so they spent 1 or 2 pay periods as a TCO and then transferred to RA.

And there was someone else on this board who was offered TCO but also offered RO, they took RO. But I guess those had the same start date.

TKS - My take-away is turn nothing down, live in Extended stay hotel, and leave shipping container in home town till it all settles out.

I received a referred notice for the Tax Specialist position on the USAjobs portal Friday and received this email today:

Your application for the above position was received and processed in accordance with the Merit Promotion Program procedures. Based upon your application, we are pleased to inform you that you have met the basic qualification requirements for the occupation and grade level indicated.

I am not an internal employee. Was this just a mistake? Did anyone else receive this email?

If its talking about merit promotion and you don't work for the IRS, it's probably a glitch.

Congratulations! I received the same referral. I'm not a current IRS employee however I am a federal employee and previously worked for the IRS, my guess is that's why I qualified under the merits promotion.

are you a current federal employee? or were you previously a federal employee?

Hello Everyone.

Today I received this for the job you guys have been posting about:

Tax Specialist *Amended* Announcement #: (20PHI-SBX0445-0526-5T9) that closed on 06/19/2020:

IRS Vacancy Notice-Referred TP2-3

Determination: IRS Vacancy Notice- Referred to Selecting Official

Your name has been referred to the Selecting Official for the TAX SPECIALIST *Amended* position in... You may be contacted for a selection interview within the next 2 weeks.

I worked for the IRS years ago, and returning, so I have been out of the IRS human resources procedures loop for a while.

I think that even though I was referred, there is no guarantee that I'll have an interview, right?

Nick

Mine went from several months of "received" status to "reviewed" last week then "referred" a few days later.
