How is the entire process? Application > Interview > TO > Fingerprints > FO > EOD?

What are the different positions available for this job? RA/RO/TCO?

Interviewed last month, TO a couple of weeks ago.

My RA application updated to "Referred to Selecting official". Does it mean that the selecting official decides if I will be called for interview? Also, I have not received any notification about my score. How do I find out about that?

That means you passed your test. Just waiting for interview call. Good luck.

Congratulation, Some TO come in unofficial way with no formal letter and IRSJOB account. Is that right?

I had applied to a number of TCO positions two weeks ago and took my TCO3 assessment on Monday. I have yet to hear back about my score, I hope I did well on it.

If anyone who received a firm offer as a TCO/Tax Specialist, did you give a job reference? How many references should you give and when did you submit it, was it before you got a firm offer? Thank you for your answers.

They never asked me for references when I went through the hiring process. I don't recall if I had any on resume.

Applied for the same announcement and have not received an update, as well.

Does anyone know if the TCO/Tax Specialist is a "ladder position" or just in general how the upward mobility is? Thanks for any info!

It is 5/7/9 non competitively. You can go up to 11 but you need to wait for an announcement. I was a grade 9 for 5 years without ever having an announcement near me for the grade 11. Eventually I gave up and switched jobs but TCO was a great stepping stone to where I am at now.

Question...does anyone know whether or not RO will be a direct path to RA just like TCO?

I mean I have been offered RO and TCO, I know TCO is, but I am not sure if RO will lead to RA.

RO is not a direct path to RA as they have completely different functions. The RO position goes to grade 11 non competitively and then 12 competitively whereas the TCO goes to grade 9 non competitively and then 11 competitively.

As long as you have the credits to become an RA it really doesn't matter which position you go with. Personally I would take RO because there is room to grow but the TCO position more closely models the RA position if that is what you are looking for.

Thanks!! I am starting RO in about a week, but accepted the TCO just in case. But apparently I am short 2 Accounting classes for RA even with the MPA.

I am just trying to find a path with continuous growth, because I don't want to be stuck at GS9 for the next 5 to 20 years! I've been GS9 ITAS for a year already.

So, There is a question. For RA position .Revenue Agent GS9 after 52 weeks goes to 11 and after 52 weeks to 12 non competitively. Is that correct? Then start steps 1,2,...
