After been referred for the TCO, external application, July 9th,
was referred again about 3 weeks later, July 29th...weird!

Are they trying to buy time to be able to continue the hiring process?

Hoping to get an interview!

I had my interview in the middle of July, then received 3 referral emails. I emailed HR twice on the status of my application but never received any answer. I'm still waiting. Did anyone received any update on the TCO job application?

Hi,

I received the aforementioned referral on July 29th, but no update after that. I figured they have interviewed/hired who they wanted or the process is just taking a long time.

Hello, I have a question for anyone that has knowledge of the hiring process with the IRS. I applied for the Tax Compliance Officer/Tax Specialist *Amended* position back in March of 2021. I then interviewed in the middle of July and received a Tentative Offer Letter Aug 19th. I accepted the offer Aug 21st and filled out all the pending tasks that day. The projected enter on duty date from the letter was listed as Sept 13th. I didn't receive an invite to make an appointment for fingerprinting/photograph until Aug 31th and the first available appointment wasn't until Sept 8th. Is it safe to assume that my start date will be pushed back since there will be less than a week between when I can finally get fingerprinted and this projected start date? If so, does anyone have an idea of how far it will get pushed? In other words, what is the expected time between getting fingerprinted and getting the firm offer/official start date? Any thoughts on this are appreciated! Thanks!

I can only guess they will pu***** for October start date. HR will be the best to answer this question. Usually they will give you a choice of the start date or it will be 2-3 weeks after the FO.

Hey, Nacho! I interviewed in the middle of July too! I received a TO late July and accepted my FO in the middle of August. I'm really excited to start. The position I applied to now shows hiring complete in USAJobs.

Thank you for the response. I spoke with one of the guys who interviewed me, he said that I was on the list of selected candidates. The list was passed to the HR/Selecting official. I guess I'll wait, but I'm loosing my hope.

May I ask what part of the country/state did you apply? When is your starting date?

When I was contacted, I was given the choice between two PODs: Austin and Cincinnati. The announcement on USAJobs had 10 PODs listed, but since I was only given the choice of 2, I imagine that the others were filled prior to my initial contact in July. My starting date is 9/13. We may have applied for different listings though, as mine is a pathways position. I hope you hear some good news soon!

How flexible are they with your start date if you are relocating to another state to take position of TCO? Haven't received final offer yet, just did fingerprints a week ago. But was told start date would be October. I just don't think that is enough time to get affairs in order Also, how is orientation and training? Virtual or in person?
Thanks

The start date is going to be the start date. With everything being virtual, I can't imagine there's any urgency for you to be local though.
