But its also making me wonder why GS7/9 positions are opening internally. |

No, I haven't received a FJO yet. I'm hoping they will extend our background date. I wish I knew why I've been waiting for over 6 months to receive interviews from my top 10 preferred locations? I am wondering the same thing too. I heard from a HR person that its being done in waves and hopefully we will hear something soon. I just think its wild that we all applied in 2020 and are still waiting. Like the CHI 2022 is probable going to wait a while as well. |

Okay so minor update on my end. I reached out to my local field office to check on my background investigation status and they said, my investigation appears to be complete. However, they said the “official email” won’t be from them which was kind of confusing based on what I’ve read on their website and from other user experiences. It’s been about month since they sent this.
Anyone have any experience of where this “official email” will come from? Or any insight on what I should do?

Okay final update from me guys (sorry if my messages are annoying, but this one might help other people who have been stuck in the background investigation like myself for the past 8-12 months lol).
I went onto the FBI’s website and requested to speak with a Special Agent at my local field office. After a few days, he reached out to me via email and from there, I found out three things.
1) The agent was able to look up my info and found out that I had been favorably adjudicated! He was somewhat surprised that I never received a phone call from headquarters beforehand, so he took time to contact them on my behalf. Not even 10 min after my phone call, I got a call from Headquarters saying that I am cleared. The good news is, our clearances last 1 full year. The bad news is that by the time we’re cleared, the positions we accepted conditional offers for will most likely already be filled (at least that’s what happened to me). While on the phone with Headquarters they asked what other location preferences I was interested in, so be prepared to give some just in case they ask. Lastly, when employers do reach out about vacant positions, you will have to do another meet and greet (interview) for that position.
2) To apply for a special agent position, you need 2+ years of Full-time work experience after graduation. The average age for most Special Agents is 30 which was a little surprising, but hey, now I know.
3) If you have a Master’s degree, plus experience, it makes you a significantly more competitive candidate than someone with a bachelors degree and experience. I didn’t want to go back to school, especially after COVID-19, but I decided it wouldn’t hurt. If anyone is interested in an online Master’s of Investigations program, check out the University of New Haven.
Hope this helps, Cheers!
