With 2020 coming to a close, I thought it might be useful to start a new thread for prospective special agents in 2021.
I recently received my Conditional Job Offer, and looking forward to getting this background finished in the New Year.
Good luck to everyone. |

Hello All,
So with the recent email changing the PFT up yet again. When could we expect to see these changes actually happen?
I've passed Phase I and the M&G, but only took the Baseline PFT which I failed. This haven't started the Phase II portion yet.
With this new change, sounds like I'll be able to continue with Phase II hopefully soon...? Just wondering how soon? Trying to figure out new timeline to Q...
Thanks and good luck to all!

I started the process with needing the PFT to get to Phase II, now it seems as though I will get there hopefully soon, just waiting on my status to update to go take the writing portion.

That’s interesting. I’m surprised they’re shipping people to the Q who only score five on the PFT. Seems like it would increase the number of people who wash out. Still nice to not have to worry about the PT test for a while though.

I think its very odd about the PFT. I like the PT process and the challenge so it kinda bums me out that they are lowering the standards. |

Does anyone know if the Tactical Recruiting Program still requires 20 points pre-Quantico? Or has that changed too?

Haven't heard anything about that. I have no clue, but its a pretty elite unit, I doubt they would want to lower the bar. I'm really surprised the FBI lowered their standards for entry as well, must be hurting pretty bad for agents. |

I have a question regarding the phase 1 exam. Can another agency special agent exam such as the Secret Service be used to skip the phase 1 exam?

Totally random question folks, but does the agency help out with remaining apt lease if they ship you out somewhere after Q?If you don't have an understanding landlord they could ask for what's remaining (Depending on your state laws).

I was curious about this too. It would hurt to sign a new lease and get the call the next day.

Anyone know if the SF-86 is done through e-QIP, or if candidates are supposed to fill out the SF-86 form available on the OPM site and submit it as an attachment through FBIjobs.gov? In either case, is HQ supposed to send a link? Thanks.

The TRP recruiter that interviewed me wanted to see at least 20 points on the PFT. I don’t know if it’s a deal breaker though. I’d imagine that the more tactical experience you have the more likely they might let you get away with an 18 or 19 but that’s just my own speculation.
I asked a similar question regarding signing an apartment/home lease. I asked if the FBI provides orders similar to military PCS orders and if they would get someone out of a lease without paying penalties. I was told that ultimately it depends on the leasing agency but most of the time they do work with you.
The SF 86 is filled out and submitted on the OPM site. You will receive an email notification that has the instructions. If you’ve never filled one out you can fill out the digital one OPM has on their site and then just copy and paste. Not a bad idea to be prepared with the amount of information that’s required and the limited number of business days you have to submit your official one once you’re notified to begin.

I don’t know if the TRP interview is always at the end but I would imagine so. Definitely after the PFT so they can see your scores. I do know they prefer to enroll candidates prior to them attending Q.

For anybody who has done the PSI or polygraph, specifically women, what did you wear? Still professional, suit and all? I'd want to be more comfortable during the polygraph. Just curious.

Also, my AC said that with the new rules you need to pass the PFT within 120 days of going to Q. So if I were to take the pft now and the investigation takes over 120 days, I would have to take it again?
