Congrats on the successful PFT! I wonder when final offers start going out. Is it the 2-4 weeks before class starts that the portal says, or do they go out earlier in practice?

I would like to know the answer to this question too. My AC hasn't told me anything as of yet.

At my PFT my AC gave me a disclaimer about not making any concrete plans until the final offer is in hand, but after that she strongly implied I was in the December class. This made me wonder if in September they were already sure who is in the class why they would wait until late October/early November to send out final offers. Personally, those extra few weeks to get affairs in order would be quite helpful since we wouldn’t have much time on the other side of Quantico…assuming we pass.

"Assuming we pass" - I heard the legal exam at the Academy is tough, but I'm assuming the vast majority of people pass it. Buckle down and study hard is all you can do I guess.

I remember awhile back there was some discussion about the washout rate and based on an interview somebody gave and some back of the envelope calculations it seems it’s around 2%. I like those odds but also don’t want to be presumptuous.

If that's true, that'd be pretty much one per cohort, since there's around 50 in each one. Not too bad. I feel you, though. Definitely don't want to let up on any of it.

Has anybody on here received their final offer for the December class yet?

As the poster stated above, you’ll receive the final offer 2-4 weeks out. Your AC can pretty much give you a pretty good idea of what class you’ll be in, but until the final offer comes from HQ…it isn’t official.

My FO told me this week that once you are adjudicated, HQ tries to get you into the next available class pending open seats

I have been lurking for several years. I have finally made the step and followed through this year with an application. Considering the jump from local LEO to Fed - prior mil. I have two different applications that have traction at this point.

FBI Application

First Applied: 8/2018 – stopped

Second Applied: 3/2019 – Stopped after phase one test (passed) /self-test

Third app: 6/30/2021 (New portal is nice)
M&G 7/13/2021
Phase 2 Written Test Invite: 7/14/2021
Phase 2 Written taken: 7/15/2021 (Still was in the metro area and worked out to schedule right away)
Phase 2 Interview offered: 7/27/2021
Phase 2 Interview scheduled: 8/24/2021
Passed Phase 2: 8/30/2021
COA: 9/1/2021
COA: accepted: Same day
E-quip Start (BI): 9/2/2021 (already had it completed due to another Fed application)
Submitted E-Quip: 9/3/2021
Polygraph: 10/13; notification of pass 10/14
Medical: 10/14
Start calling references: est 10/15 or 10/18

I was given the possibility of April to June classes.

Daaaaang your application was fast. What a dream. Hopefully my background won't be too long. I'd love to get into the Spring classes.

@polisciguy,

After reading all 84 pages here and some of the past years, I did think some of it went fast. For instance, I didn't expect to be scheduled for a medical prior to finishing poly and having a result to the poly within 24 hrs.

My AC mentioned that backgrounds are taking about 3 months.... which may be wishful thinking. I know things happen and stuff naturally stalls.

My timeline is below, but my background took less than 3 months. So much better than the 6-8 months I had been expecting after reading other posts. I passed my PFT this morning and my portal updated to "Pending Final Offer" but my AC told me this morning that there are at least 10+ people in front of me from just my FO (midwestern city) so they were expecting I'd get a spot sometime in the Spring to maybe even next Summer.

Here's my timeline so far:
Apply: 01/05/21
Ph I: 02/10/21
M&G (group): 03/19/21
M&G (individual): 03/24/21
Ph II (W): 04/24/21
Ph II (I): 06/15/21
Ph II Pass: 06/18/21
CAO: 07/15/21
PSI: 08/04/21
Poly: 08/20/21
Medical: 10/04/21
Green Checkmark on Background Complete: 10/04/21
PFT: 10/15/21 (pass)

Congrats MK7QF! That is great news! Seems like the Midwest is doing well on getting backgrounds through.

Congrats on getting the go ahead. Perfect example of no way to gauge the BI. I took my poly nearly a month before you and still waiting on that checkmark (with good news hopefully). Not gonna lie, a little discouraging that your AC said spring or summer for Q. I was still holding out hope for Dec or Jan.

Oddly, I had a date change yesterday after being in psych for 3 months and my Complete Polygraph green check went away and my status reverted from Schedule PFT to Pending-Polygraph. SHRUG

Question for you, NGP. Have you reached out to your contact? I was told to if I didn't hear anything in a month. From my understanding, the green check marks are not always clear and are only accurate if your office is on top of it.

@annino-

Is being in "psych" more than the poly?

Yes psych is after poly and after contacts are interviewed

@Trooper23 - Yea I've reached out but haven't gotten a response yet which seems to be the ongoing theme of my entire application process. As far as I know I'm still in BI and have no reason to think otherwise.

I am sorry to hear that. I just thanked my contact for being so reachable- responds to emails and picks up her phone when I call...

May you continue to find success forward...
