One thing to add, HQ will not add your name to the roster unless you have achieved the Baseline PFT score, which would make you "available" for Q. Now, in my case, I am adjudicated but my PFT is this week. So if final offers come out next week, then I likely have missed the cut.

As some background, I developed shin splints (potentially a stress fracture) and have been recovering as a result for the last month and a half. I know I could run through the pain and pass the PFT bc I passed the practice PFT with the FO when I had the pain in August with 15 points. However, I am not in a rush to get to Q and feel it would be better if I could take 2 months or so off to fully recover and then have adequate time to train at a better pace and get beyond 15 points, and just be better prepared for the academy. If it were up to me I would start Q next fall at the very earliest. My background investigation is still underway so I probably have a couple of months (possibly more) until adjudication. I also know the official policy is you must pass the PFT within 1 year of completion of the background investigation and you get unlimited attempts, but I don't know if the FO reaches out and pressures you to take the PFT or if you can simply decline and take it whenever suits you. I would not want to take the PFT and pass (which I think getting 5 points is relatively easy, even with pain) only to begin Quantico at a disadvantage and fighting through pain for 20 weeks. I also don't want to take the PFT and intentionally fail it, bc I think it would just be embarrassing and a waste of time.

I really would appreciate everyone's thoughts. Feel free to PM me as well.

The only deadline is a year after completing background, but my AC starting encouraging applicants to take the PFT around the time of adjudication in order to be considered for the upcoming Q classes. But even then, you can wait as long as you want (up to a year post-background), you just won’t be considered for Q until you get that baseline PFT score. I think since you’ve already gone through a practice PFT and know what to expect, it might be best to just wait until you’re at your best and have completed background. But whatever you decide, I’ve found it helpful to keep an open dialogue with my AC/ FO so they’re not left wondering when I plan to take the PFT.

Super helpful, and agree with keeping an open dialogue. Are you informed of the date that the background investigation was completed via email or other means?

So I had a date change on the portal and a green checkmark next to “Background Investigation.” My AC emailed me the next day saying I was favorably adjudicated. I think some people receive calls, but my AC just sent me an email with the news.

Hey everyone. Question regarding psych...

I know you will be triggered and pushed into the psych process if you checked yes to anything psych related on the SF 86... is that a correct assumption?
I did not check yes to anything on the SF86 (regarding psych). But my FO asked for additional information after I submitted my SF 86. On that additional info packet, there was a section for any counseling received. I had to explain that I saw a counselor one time when I was 8. I was never diagnosed with anything, it was more of a family type of counseling. Will this trigger them to send me through the psych process? Pretty bummed if that's the case.

Thanks all.

I can’t give you a definite answer but in my case I saw a doctor once in 2009 and it triggered it for me. I except in my case, while I did not have an official diagnosis, I was prescribed a trial of medication.

On the other hand, I disclosed seeing a therapist for family counseling around ages 16/17, did not get diagnosed with anything, and this did not trigger psych for me.

Perhaps if you saw a "doctor" it triggers it but if you saw a non-doctor counselor it is less likely?

Oh she was a doctor, I just saw her for family counseling specifically. I was never even asked to provide who it was or anything though.

Hey everyone, want to wish everyone good luck on the process and at the academy. I just found this forum today and I've been reading it basically on and off all day. Very informative so far. I have part 1 of my informal virtual meet and greet tomorrow so I'm still very early in the process. Did the fellas in here dress up in a full suit for the meet and greet? Any advice for Phase II test and formal interview?

Thanks a lot. My meet and greet is also virtual and we were advised that there was no need to turn on the camera or audio if we did not want to. Anything in office I figured a suit is the standard. Been trying my best to take it one step at a time but it's hard not to think ahead and try to prepare for it all at once.

When I was going through I just asked the proper attire because I hate being over or under dressed. Here was the layout that I was given for the process and I never felt out of place. Hope it helps relieve any anxiety.

P1 Test - Whatever you want - Test Center

M&G - Suit & Tie - Preferably black suit with a white dress shirt and solid colored tie (not bright color) with black dress shoes (shined).

PFT - Whatever is comfortable to work out in as long as there is no offensive writing on the clothes. Bring water!

PII (Written) - Whatever you want - Test Center

PII (Interview) - Same as M&G

Psych - Same as M&G

Background Pre-Screen - Same as M&G

Medical - Slacks & Polo or Slacks and Dress Shirt

Telephone call saying you’ve been adjudicated - Old shirt so you can rip it off screaming “I DID IT” …or you know whatever you want.

** Good luck in that M&G - Let the resume speak, sell yourself a little, and come with some pre-loaded questions to show you are interested in moving forward.

Great advice! My only variance was at the medical. I wore casual clothes (3rd party clinic). They made me do lunges and stretches, so I was glad to be dressed that way.

Has anyone done an official PFT in the cold weather? Any idea whether it's ok to wear those warming "tights" under the running shorts?

Finished my Phase 2 interview recently, felt like I did ok but feel like I bombed 1 or 2 questions in the sense that I didn't actually fully answer it. Anyone else felt the same and pass?

I think everybody felt like they could have done better on a few questions. I know I came up with great answers on the trip home after the heat of the moment passed.

Truth is you never really know how you did until you get the results back. Sometimes you feel like you nailed it and get rejected. Sometimes you think you bombed but get through.

Agree about Phase II!

I left absolutely gutted, thinking I had no chance on my two hour drive home.

You never know what they took away from it. Don’t give up hope!

It was pretty chilly when I did mine. There was a female that wore leggings and a jacket and another male that wore a light jacket the whole time. So i'm pretty sure you can wear whatever you need to be comfortable. But again, doesn't hurt to contact your AC to verify.
