VA (Department of Veterans Affairs)

The United States has the most comprehensive system of assistance for veterans of any nation in the world. This benefits system traces its roots back to 1636, when the Pilgrims of Plymouth Colony were at war with the Pequot Indians. The Pilgrims passed a law which stated that disabled soldiers would be supported by the colony. The establishment of the Veterans Administration came in 1930 when Congress authorized the President to "consolidate and coordinate Government activities affecting war veterans."

This forum also includes the Veterans Health Administration (VHA).

I have VA loan with Bank of America, and was told that they are currently not refinancing VA mortgage. I am not sure if it is true or they just find an excuse not doing it for me.

But anyway, I am looking for refinance in another financial institution. Any recommendation?

Thanks.

Unless you have credit/income issues, talk with a local bank or a mortgage broker.

When I purchased a house 8 years ago, my credit union loan officer said the VA loan would be more expensive than a conventional FHA loan.

I close next week on a refi for 2.25/20yr on a conventional FHA loan.
