I and my spouse are both postal employees...

It has been recommended for my wife to take over the health insurance as I will retire first... by 3 to 4 years.
If I retire mid year, I assume her taking over health insurance during the previous Nov-Dec open season, there will not be an issue with the 5 year requirement because there will be no gap in coverage.

I have heard if there is even a 1 day gap, the clock starts over on the 5 year period for keeping FEHB into retirement. What happens if I retire on Dec 31? Would the FEHB switch over with no gap in coverage time?
