Hello!
It’s been a while since anyone has posted about the contract linguist position process. Has anyone here taken the reading, writing and translation exams recently? I took it on Monday! Now I have to wait for the results :)
Share away! I would love to hear your experiences!

Hey there!
I apologize for the delay. The translation part consisted of translating 4 out of the 5 passages. Each passage was more difficult. I had time to complete all 5. My biggest difficulty was that the written test was all handwritten. I don’t know about you, but I rarely (if ever) make use of my handwriting skills ha ha. As for the oral piece. It’s conversational.
I hope you passed!

And with all these digital tablets to sign your name for when you use a credit card, my signature has gone to pot as well. Is the FBI contract linguist the same as the jobs offered by the National Virtual Translation Center? They also hire contract linguists and have some connection with FBI. |

Don’t get me started on my signature lol. I am glad I am not the only one. Based on the job descriptions, the jobs appear to be quite similar, but I could be wrong. I applied at the NVTC and I was not even considered to take the battery tests. I am glad I didn’t give up and applied for the contract linguist at the FBI. My goal is to become an full fledged FBI employee :) It’s a step in the right direction!
