Article 41 states vacancies have to be posted 14 days after the route becomes vacant. We just recently had one retire December 31. So the route has to be posted on January 14th, no later.

The problem we have is the district doesn’t give the info. To our PM letting him know it’s officially vacant. I’m the steward now and ive seen it before string along longer than it should. What’s proper and if a grievance is filed what’s the remedy for an article 41 violation?

Also, what’s to be done to make an unassigned regular a regular carrier now?

For your 1st problem of delayed posting, ask for $25 for the successful bidder for each week it is not posted,

There is nothing you can do to make a unassigned regular. You can try to persuade you PM that it is in his/her best interest to promote a CCA to UAR while a route is going through the bidding process. As that would allow him/her to hire a new CCA to keep the workforce filled. Ultimately is it up to your district office.

Those who are, know those who are not.

If you think they are after you, what did you do wrong?

Is your local different than the national wording? Request that the person who is successful bidder or person placed into the position have their seniority backdated to the proper date they should have been placed in the job via the time frame provided by the contract or your local and all backpay due them. We had several occurrences in our branch and we now get $500 each time its delayed
