Reemployed Annuitants

Generally speaking, the treatment of a retiree's annuity and pay upon reemployment in the Federal Government depends upon whether he or she retired on the basis of a regular, involuntary, or disability retirement. Potential benefits that may be earned as a result of the reemployment service depend primarily on the length of such service.

Some details on Reemployed Annuitants may be found in a PDF file at OPM's Web Site by clicking here.

If you have questions regarding how this can affect you, feel free to post the quesitons here. Or perhaps you have been through this process before and can offer some helpful suggestions...please share.

My TSP has done much better then an IRA I have had for many years. I'm thinking about rolling it into the TSP. I called TSP and they had no problem. Has anyone done this and have anything to say about it?

The question I have for you is, what and where is your IRA in/at?

There are low cost mutual funds at Fidelity or Vanguard that can match the returns of the TSP options.

One downside to combining the accounts is withdrawal options. If you are married, making a special withdrawal may require your spouse's signature and notery.

The other issues is with how the accounts are handled upon your passing. IMO, the IRA is a better choice in this regard
Those who are, know those who are not.

If you think they are after you, what did you do wrong?
