Hello!

Does anyone know where I could find what the VN (title 38 nurse grade) to GS conversion is? I'm sure there is a better way to state this but I'm currently working for the VA as a nurse and I'm looking at jobs at the IHS or ICE and I'm trying to ballpark what my GS grade would be. To make it a little more complicated the geographical areas that I'm looking at pay quite a bit more than the geographical area where I now work so I can't just do a rough estimate by salary.

Maybe I should also ask if they even have pay retention (by grade) when switching from VN to GS.

Thank you for any information that you think might be helpful.

Good day,

I would compare my current pay against the 2021 GS Pay Scale. In example if I'm currently making $81,000 Annual, and my desire location was Washington, DC., I would be expecting to be placed in a GS 11 step 5.

Be aware it does get a little more complicated that that, it also depends on what grade the position is being posted as.

Open to the public, merit, etc.
