GM pays their non-career, part-time temporary employees $16.67/hour.
They work a maximum of 32 hours/week.
There is no guarantee that the jobs will ever become permanent or full time.
Temps make up about 7%-10% of GM's workforce.
They are union members, working alongside permanent employees, doing the same work for half the pay and far fewer benefits.

======================

February 8th, 2021: "General Motors is looking to fill 50 temporary, part-time jobs...The starting wage is $16.67 per hour"

December 3rd, 2020: "The GM plant is hiring more than 200 part-time temporary workers as production of full-size pickup trucks increases. The jobs come with an hourly wage of $16.67 and a maximum 32-hour work week."

My first job in 1973 was at the minimum wage of $1.75/hr.

Hard for me to turn my nose up at nearly ten times that much.

First real job: U.S. Navy.

$344 a month, before taxes...plus I think sea pay was another $9(?) a month.

Before that I worked in the fields picking tomatoes and planting onions. I think that was $2 an hour.

Now you'll hear "but that was good money back then".

It WAS!!!! Especially cuz I sucked at the job. I wasn't worth it.

I don't think my dad ever made more than $300 a week in his (too short) life.
