Hi Does anyone know how long it takes for OPM to process a Disability Retirement election after a person elects to switch from OWCP PR to OPM Disability retirement? My OPM DR application was approved a couple years ago, but I elected to recieve OWCP up until now, because the benefit is higher. But if OWCP ever terminates my benefits, I will have to switch. Just wondering if the delay is just a couple months or if it's several months. Also, would I lose my Federal employee BCBS if my OWCP benefits are terminated before OPM processes the election? thank you very much.

Like your question!
Has anyone already gone through the entire process of the switch from OWCP to DR and can provide the general timeframe of the switch process?
There are tons out there I'm sure maybe just not reading in this forum.
Is it 30 days? Is is 60 days? Is it 90 days? Is it 6 months? Is it a year?
From request to formal switch?
I would think the processing on the OWCP side would be pronto and a maximum limit of time on for the OPM side once they formally received it from OWCP.
Do we have claimants out there that have successfully already been there, done that and can give a rough estimate?
It's an important question because planning "saved funds" to live on/survive prior to making the switch is important when there's mortgages, utility bills and food to pay forin the interim.
Great question!

I sent my second request to WC to be switched to Disability retirement. Unbelievable...... they have sent me to so many psychological exams to get me kicked off work comp over the lasr 20.years and now that I want out, they won’t let me leave..... such a broken system......I can’t call them as I get *****ing panic attacks from the years of abuse.... . The last exam was 4 hours long with a forensic psychiatrist who said in my report, “to damaged”.......;;; *****. You workers comp......
