I am thinking about making a move from gs14 to gs15.
the gs 14 is a very secure and stable position and in the bargaining unit section.
If I move into a gs15 I then become non-bargaining, so will this position still have the same or similar security and stability?
Also is their any required retirement age for a gs15.

The only difference is how much you get paid. There is no difference in retirement age based on grade. The only things that determine age being a factor is the type of position it is (ie. Is it LEO, ATC, etc that have mandatory retirement ages), otherwise, you can work if you want to until you are 105 and drop dead at your desk.

I will also note, the grade doesn't determine if you are in the bargaining unit, the job does. My whole civil service career has been outside of the bargaining unit (from GG-12 to my current position), and that is due to my specific job. That said, our union local president is a GS-15...so grade doesn't impact your bargaining unit status.

Of course, if you are a bad employee, then perhaps the union offers a level of protection you may find comforting. Otherwise, don't worry about that part. Look at the position...is it something you can do, perhaps even do it well? If yes, go for it!

You should have voted Cthulu...the greatest of all Evils
